Napa Valley TV has been
in the community for over twenty years. Advocating Free speech and serving
the community with years of knowledge and experience in the television
industry, we offer our expertise for community members who want to learn
more about television and utilize these skills in and out of community
access.
We
currently offer five workshop classes at Napa Valley TV:
-
Producer's Orientation - Have you noticed that many of the people
you know in Napa are on local cable Channel 28 and/or Channel 27?
That's because they have found out about the benefits of getting their
message out to the community through the television medium. This
non-technical, one hour class will cover the policies and procedures of
access television and is the first step towards your own show.
(Class Fee: $10 for members, N/A for non-residents)

-
Television Production Workshop - In this 3-hour workshop, students
will learn the fundamentals of television production. Use of the video
camera operation and terminology, shot composition, use of tripods,
basic lighting, audio, and script outlines will be covered. Successful
completion of this class will allow students to serve as crewmembers at
the Napa Valley TV studio. It will also allow them the ability to check
out field camera equipment for on-location productions. (Class
Fee: $30 for members ($60 for non-residents/non-members)

-
Introduction to digital Editing with Adobe Premiere Elements 4.0 -
Want to learn editing on your Windows instead of a Mac? Napa
Valley TV utilizes the powerful, yet easy user-intuitive features of
Adobe Premiere Elements. In this Windows only program, students will
learn to capture and edit video, add music, create a voice-over, add
titles and make your production something everyone will enjoy, all while
keeping themselves familiar with the popular Windows shortcuts and
commands. This one-time workshop class lasts approximately three hours.
(Class Fee: $40 for members, $80 for
non-residents/non-members)

-
Introduction to digital Editing with Apple's iMovie - iMovie is a
basic, yet powerful, video editing software program and is meant for the
beginning editor, with emphasis on importing, working with video and
audio, transitions, title and effects. Although this class is
introductory, previous computer knowledge is recommended, but not
required. This one time workshop class lasts approximately 3 hrs and
will give you the basic tools needed to begin editing your projects
today! (Class Fee: $40 for members, $80 for
non-residents/non-members)

-
Introduction to digital Editing with Final Cut Pro -
Once users have become familiar with the post-production process, they
can expand their knowledge of the editing world with a more advanced
program: Final Cut Pro. Students will learn to perform basic
editing functions while adjusting and customizing preferences and
settings, capturing video and audio, various editing and trimming
techniques, creating voice overs, and final output. This one- time
workshop class lasts approximately 3 hours. iMovie
experience or equivalent training required. (Class Fee: $40
for members, $80 for non-residents/non-members)
